Project 3

Following these weeks tutorial. Davor gave me some suggestions for my building in order to give it a better aesthetic and functionality.

My discussion with Davor led me to think about rotating my upper level (baths and lookout) horizontal so it aligns with the cliff. This change gives the pools a great frontage so taht more light etc can get it and just makes the building follow the cliff a bit better. Also my residential component (which i have be struggling to think of where to put) it going to be attached to the west side of the building, but elevated so the building 'climbs' up the cliff.

This is my new design for my retreat following the changes i made during the tutorial. The residential components is on the left, with the new spa baths/indoor pool being along the top.

I had an idea during a study session I had with another student about my roof/walls for the indoor pool. What I'm thinking of doing is to create this tectonic 'shell' that wraps around the indoor pool and attaches itself to the cliff. This is kind of based on the previous envelope I had designed for Project 2 which was influenced by the tectonics of the cliff faces. I'm going to attempt to CAD this free form shape in Revit and will update the progress I make soon.
